General Booking Terms and Conditions

Please read the following booking terms and conditions (“Terms & Conditions”). They apply to all reservations made at Shifting Sands Surf Camp (“Camp”, “us”, “we”). The person whose name and other particulars appears below hereby applies to stay at the Camp is described as “the Customer” or “you”. Please read these Terms & Conditions thoroughly for they relate to the booking you have made with us. Acceptance of a booking, whether verbally or in writing, creates a binding agreement between you and the Camp. Should you wish to discuss any element contained within these Terms & Conditions, please contact us. If you require further help and need more information about dates, length of stay, difference surf packages or other, please contact us and we will respond to your questions, confirm availability and guide you through the booking process.

Reservation policy

The charges will be quoted by us to you upon your request for a booking. Bookings will be subject to you; (a) making an initial deposit of […]% of the total charges in order to confirm the booking; and (b) paying the remaining balance of […]% 7 days’ before arrival day. Please note your reservation is only valid, and your accommodation guaranteed, upon confirmation of the deposit payment. In case of a bank transfer you must make reference to the name the reservation was made on and send a print screen or proof of transaction per email for obtaining a confirmation. You can find all the bank details in the booking confirmation details, which we will send to you by e-mail once you fill in the form on our website. The booking will be considered as valid when the required amount has been transferred to our bank account, and you have received a confirmation e-mail with the booking details.

Cancellations

All cancellations must be sent via email or phone call wherever possible and will be effective on that date, which they are received by the Camp. Cancellation charges are payable as follows: Over 28 days a full refund of the deposit/payment will be given. Less than 28 days’, 50% of deposit of payment will be refunded.

Check In and Check Out

Standard check-in time at the Camp is from 1200 hrs onwards, however we recommend you contact us to make prior arrangements with the Camp, and it is subject to the full range of services and facilities at the Camp not being available until the standard check-in time. Standard check-out time at the Camp is 1100 hrs, later check-out times may be possible by prior arrangement and is subject to availability.

Camp Rules

Valid photo identification in the form of a Drivers License or Passport is required at check-in. Customers are required to conduct themselves in a reasonable and responsible manner at the Camp and must not act in a way which may disturb other guests. Failure to adhere to this requirement may result in Customers being asked to leave the Camp in which event all charges shall become non-refundable. Customers may not bring guests back to the Camp at any time unless prior arrangements have been made to do so with the Camp.

Equipment

The staff at the Camp shall, at their sole discretion, provide surf equipment at the Camp for the Customer to use (“Equipment”). The Equipment must be returned in the same condition it was when the Customer received it and to the satisfaction of the Camp’s staff. Where the Camp’s staff are unsatisfied with the condition of the Equipment returned by the Customer, the Customer shall on request, and in any event before the date of the Customer’s departure from the Camp, pay to the Camp a sum equivalent to the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged Equipment as the Camp’s staff considers necessary. The staff at the Camp may accompany Customers to various locations around France to provide guidance and advice in relation to the surf and surf conditions, however, Customer agrees and acknowledges that this does not constitute the provision of professional surf lessons.

Accommodation Policy

The Camp has a self-catering regime and therefore you are responsible for keeping the kitchen, common areas and dorms, clean, undamaged and ready for others to use. It is expected from guests to respect each other as they share the lodging. For any damage caused to equipment or disregard for conduct rules you will be held responsible and the Camp holds the right to refuse accommodation and invite guests to leave the Camp.

Risk Acknowledgement

The Customer acknowledges that there are inherent dangers both apparent and hidden associated with surfing and associated surf camps. The Customer’s participation in the Camp and surfing and other associated activities may result in injury.

Loss, Damage or Injury

To the full extent permitted at law, the Camp is excluded from any liability to the Customer and will not be responsible for any loss, damage or injury to the Customer arising from or connected with any activity conducted by the Camp no matter how that loss, damage or injury is caused. In particular, the Camp is not responsible for any loss or damage to a Customer arising from or related to: (i) (ii) The Customer’s failure or refusal to obey an instruction from an instructor of the Camp, and Any medical or psychological or mental condition of the Customer as the date of this Agreement. Furthermore, the Camp is not responsible for loss or damage to the Customer or any of the property of the Customer arising from any negligent act or omission of the Camp or any person for whom the Camp is responsible.

Physical Condition

The Customer acknowledges and agree that the Camp has no control in respect of weather, surf or other physical conditions during any Customer’s stay at the Camp. The Camp is accordingly not liable for any loss, damage, and inconvenience to any Customer or any property of any Customer arising from all or any of these factors.

Customer Property

Each Customer is solely responsible and liable for safekeeping of all the property of the Customer. The Camp has no responsibility for any loss through theft, breakage or otherwise of any property of any Customer. The Camp does not accept responsibility for loss of or damage to any cash, money, jewellery or other articles of value. The Camp does not accept responsibility for loss of or damage to motor cars or other vehicles of any kind, or any property lost in them; motorbikes, bicycles or other vehicles. Privacy policy The Camp guarantee that your personal information is just for company purposes. We will not share or give it to any it to any third party. The Camp however reserves the right to use it for our newsletters with updates and interesting news, which you can unsubscribe from at any time. Insurance We strongly advise you before beginning of you holiday, to take all risk travel insurance to cover for any incident. Law and Jurisdiction These conditions form a contract between the Camp and the Customer which will be construed in accordance with the laws of France and it is agreed between the parties that any and all disputes to be handled exclusively by the courts of France.
